Suspicious Activity Reporting Course

The Virginia Fusion Center will be holding a Suspicious Activity Reporting Course at the Henry County Emergency Training Center at 1024 DuPont Road in Martinsville on October 23, 2014.  The class will start at 6:00PM and will last approximately an hour and is based on the federal “See Something, Say Something” program.  The course will help EMS and fire personnel to recognize suspicious activities and how to report the information.  All first responders are encouraged to attend.   For more information or to sign up contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. CISM Training: Stress Management for the Trauma Services Provider
The WVEMS CISM Team is hosting an ICISF - Stress Management for the Trauma Services Provider course October 4 & 5, 2014 8:00 am to 5:30 pm at the Roaonoke Regional Fire & EMS Training Center, 1220 Kessler Mill Rd. Salem, VA. This important course is for all who work with traumatized people. Explore the “Stress Continuum,” the levels of stress including eustress (i.e., beneficial, motivating stress), traumatic stress, burnout, countertransference, compassion fatigue or secondary PTSD, and vicarious traumatization which may occur as a result of helping others.  Course Fee is $75.00.  For registration and additional information please see icon Stress Management for the Trauma Services Provider Flyer
 
ACLS - Franklin County
Franklin County Public Safety is offering an American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider (16 hour) Course October 1, 2 & 4, 2014, 6pm - 10pm on 1st & 2nd  and 8:30 am - 5:00 pm on the 4th.  The course will be held at the Public Safety Training Center located at 1516 Franklin St. Rocky Mount, VA 24151.  Fees are $75.00 for Virginia certified Advanced Life Support providers and $155.00 for other Medical Professionals.  Registration Deadline is September 22, 2014.  For more information including registration information please see icon Franklin County ACLS October '14
 
ACLS Experienced Provider - Franklin County
Franklin County Public Safety is hosting an ACLS Experienced Provider course Saturday October 18, 2014 starting at 8:30 am at The Franklin Center, 50 Claiborne Ave, Rocky Mount, VA.
The ACLS Experienced Provider course is for experienced clinicians with prior ACLS training.  The ACLS -EP is "the next step" in training providing a stimulus to identify special circumstances in resusciation.  The cost is $125.00 which does NOT include the course manual which is required. Mass Casualty Incident Management Modules I & II - Pittsylvania County

Carilion Clinic 2014 Trauma Symposium
Carilion Clinic Trauma Services will be holding their bi-annual Trauma Symposium Friday October 24, 2014 at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, 110 Shenandoah Ave. Roanoke, VA  Pre-registration is REQUIRED and registration is now open and will close October 10, 2014.  The opening presentation this year will be by Dr. Alok Gupta, who will talk about the Boston Marathon bombing.  Additional presentations will cover Spinal Cord Injuries, Amputations, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and more, including a choice of 3 presentations during an afternoon Breakout Session.  For registration information and a full schedule of the presentations, please see icon Carilion Clinic 2014 Trauma Symposium Brochure
 
PALS - Franklin County

Mega CE Weekend - Franklin County
Franklin County Public Safety and Franklin County agencies and their Auxilaries are again offering a MEGA CE weekend, October 17 - 19, 2014 at The Franklin Center, 50 Claiborne Ave Rocky Mount, VA. Twenty four (24) hours of Category 1 CE is being offered for ALS & BLS providers.

Emergency Medical Technician - Franklin County
Franklin County Public Safety will be offering an Emergency Medical Technician Certification class beginning November 10, 2014 at the Franklin County Training Center located at 1488 Franklin  St.  Rocky Mount, VA. The class will meet from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm Monday & Wednesday evenings, and is scheduled to conclude April 8, 2015.  In addition to classroom, students will be required to complete courses online and spend at least 10 hours in a field or clinical setting.  Tentative date for Certification Practical Examination is April 11, 2015.  Written examination for Certification will be taken online.
